Carol Brill  (co-presenter of An SDI and Servant Leadership Journey)

Carol_BAfter several years in customer service and clinical practice operations management, Carol Brill, M.F.A., M.S., B.S. moved into Human Resources Leadership as a Generalist. Her years on "the operations front line" gave her a unique ability to understand middle managements day-to-day challenges and to partner and build credible relationships. About 4 years ago, she moved into Organizational Development with a focus on team effectiveness and leadership coaching and development. She is AtlantiCare's go-to middle leader and team coach. She achieved SDI Level 2 Certification about 3 years ago and is a MentorCoach Foundations Graduate.

Karla Edwards (co-presenter of The Colors of Customer Service)

Karla_EKarla's passion for customer service began when she was 16 in her first job at McDonalds. Currently, Karla is the Director of Service Excellence at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska where she spends much of her time teaching and coaching employees to provide excellent customer service. Responsible for patient satisfaction, Karla designs and facilitates on-going customer service training for the hospital's 1600 employees and employees at seven area hospitals, and has provided customer service training for the support staff at the local community college.

She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a background in journalism and marketing/public relations. She is certified in the Strength Deployment Inventory and Myers Briggs Type Indicator.


Joy Goldman  (co-presenter of Using Relationship Awareness Theory to Make a Positive Difference in Healthcare)

Joy_GJoy is a Registered Nurse with over 30 years' in healthcare. She has a Master's Degree in Strategic Human Resources and Organizational Development and is certified as a professional coach through the International Coaching Federation. Joy graduated from Georgetown University with a certificate in leadership coaching. She is a graduate of the Physician Coaching Institute and is certified as a Physician Development Coach.

Joy currently works as an Executive/Leadership Coach at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, Maryland where she actively supports executive onboarding, development of emerging leaders, physician leadership development, and team facilitation. Dawn Groves  (presenter of When Work Goes Backwards)

Susan Hahn  (co-presenter of Using Relationship Awareness Theory to Make a Positive Difference in Healthcare)

Susan_HAs an executive coach, workplace mediator, and trainer, Susan works with diverse organizations throughout the United States, Europe and Canada. In addition to serving as President of Swan Consulting Group, she is adjunct faculty at Johns Hopkins University, The College of Notre Dame and the University of Maryland. She serves on the Global Advisory Board for Australian based Results Coaching Systems, and manages coaches who work on behalf of the Swan Coaching Academy. John Harrison  (presenter of Training Leaders to Navigate Ethical Dilemmas)

HarrisonJHarrison joined the Army Management Staff College faculty in 2003. John Harrison served 33 years in the United States Army in a variety of roles – recruiting support, officer trainer, proponent, administrator and human resources professional. During his first 20 years of service, he helped care for the needs of Soldiers and their families at every Army level. In 1990, John began a decade of service as a special assistant to many of our nations' senior four-star uniformed leaders. Those senior leaders included the Commander in Chief, United Nations Command, Korea; Commander in Chief, United States Army, Europe and Seventh Army, Germany; Commander, NATO Peace Stabilization Force, Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina; Vice Chief of Staff, U.S. Army; and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. His final active duty assignment was as an leadership policy officer, Human Resources Directorate, Office of the Army G-1, with temporary detail as executive assistant to the Co-Chairmen, Office of the Secretary of Defense U.S.S. Cole Commission. John retired from active duty in April 2001, and worked two years in the private sector as Vice President, Membership and Administration, Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America, Alexandria, Va. In Spring of 2005, John deployed to the Middle East and served as transition Executive Officer, Gulf Region Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baghdad, Iraq.

Steve Hastie (co-presenter of Development of Global Soft Skills for Project Managers using the SDI)

StephenSteve has been directly involved in project management for most of his working career, initially working in the UK defense industry on projects such as complex radar systems for over 22 years. Steve is now Vice President of Professional Services, part of NDS Americas in Orange County where he currently heads up a team of project professionals. Steve is also the business lead for project management development globally including the Soft Skills and PMP Certification training.





Judy Hemmingsen  (co-presenter of How Relationship Awareness Helps Companies Select Top Management Talent)

Judy_HJudy is the Managing Partner of Personal Strengths Canada and a Master SDI Facilitator in the global Personal Strengths organization. In addition to co-managing the Canadian Distributorship, Judy works with leaders in client organizations, developing Relationship Awareness strategies and solutions to deal with their critical leadership needs, and the issues they face in today's complex business environments. Judy's previous experience in senior H.R. roles, includes the management of corporate Employment, Training and OD functions within public and private sector organizations. For over 10 years, as a Senior Consultant with a national Human Capital Consulting firm, Judy built her strengths in Management Training, Group Facilitation, Outplacement Counselling, Mediation, and Executive Coaching. Her key focus has always been on helping leaders develop the strategies they need to achieve optimum people performance. Judy holds a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and completed her practicum in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

Greg Hince  (presenter of Antarctica: Low Conflict in a Hostile Environment)

Greg is an environmental scientist for the Australian Antarctic Division and leads multidisciplinary teams involved in researching the impact of human activities in the Antarctic and subAntarctic. With nearly 20 years experience working with environmental science and engineering teams, Greg now helps prepare diverse teams for project work in remote and hostile environments. Many of the projects involve remediation of fuel and heavy metal contaminated sites.

Greg also serves in the Royal Australian Navy where he facilitates team and leadership training, and is an accredited mediator for the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

Greg received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the University of Tasmania and has guest-lectured on leadership and team development at the University of Melbourne. He has also facilitated training in relationship awareness for Australian Commonwealth and State Government Agencies.


Pat Intraversato  (presenter of Relationship Awareness Lessons From the Football Field)

Pat_IPat Intraversato launched IRON COACHING in 2009. With 25 years of work experience, for Fortune 500 companies and over 6 years of executive coaching experience, Pat provides street-worthy advice for issues facing today's leaders. Pat calls on his years in sales, customer service and management to advise his clients who range from first line managers to senior executives.

Pat started his career at Xerox Corporation where he benefited from their extensive sales, leadership, and management training. He moved from customer service to sales management quickly and throughout his 15 year tenure his performance was consistently ranked in the top ten percent in the country. From Xerox, Pat joined Sun Microsystems, where he was responsible for the development and growth of their emerging and reseller business in San Diego. Upon leaving Sun, Pat joined Gateway Computer to lead sales training and development.

Pat became a professional business coach in 2004 when he joined Building Champions. He led the MetLife Home Loan Circle of Excellence Coaching Program. His role allowed him to focus on the development of future Building Champions and MetLife Home Loan Coaching Leaders, while also coaching many of the senior executives within MetLife. Pat is a certified facilitator in Situational Leadership II and the Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI). He facilitates customized sessions in vision and strategy, leadership, planning, team effectiveness, and process improvement.

Stuart Jackson  (co-presenter of Our Path to GSD (Getting S#!* Done)

Stuart_JStuart has been an HR & L&D Generalist for 20+ years. He's worked in apparel and cosmetics for the duration of his career, within wholesale and retail focus. He managed HR functions in UK, has regional experience across Europe, and the US.

Stuart is currently Vice President of HR for 2 US companies DIESEL & STAFF USA which sell multiple high end apparel brands to the market across Retail and Wholesale channels of distribution. Prior to his current role Stuart work for Levis Strauss & CO. and The Body Shop, working in a range of HR Leadership and Organizational Development roles, and where he first got his exposure to SDI!

Stuart's self professed drive, is ensuring pragmatic organizational, brand relevant people solutions which engage a range of generational differences, in particular with a passion to capture the attention of Gen Y employees.

Stuart is a member of the Institute of Personnel and Development in UK, with a BSc psychology in addition to being aholding SDI Level 2 Certification.

Shawn Jacobs  (co-presenter of How Relationship Awareness Helps Companies Select Top Management Talent)

Shawn_JPrior to founding Jacobs Scott Ltd, an international executive search consultancy operating on six continents, Shawn conducted executive search across Canada and in the US and Southern Africa for some of the world's leading executive search practices, including Boyden International, Heidrick & Struggles, The Hever Group and TASA Worldwide.

The scope of his 25 years' experience in executive recruitment extends beyond the placement of executives and includes psychometric assessment services and board development to complement executive search and promote client success.

In his opinion, building an effective management team isn't just a matter of finding the right candidate and agreeing to the right terms. The critical task is to integrate the newcomer into a team that is finely-tuned for maximum performance. Using the SDI suite has enabled his company to profile organizational culture, streamline the placement process and add sustained value.

Laura Jennings  (co-presenter of Adding Value As A Facilitator)

LauraOLaura is a Master SDI Facilitator and President of The Jennings Group, a leadership development training and business consulting firm which specializes in working with engineering, environmental services, and contracting companies. She brings over 25 years of consulting experience with a broad range of organizations. Since establishing The Jennings Group over 20 years ago, she has worked on projects for a broad range of companies and organizations brings a deep understanding of people and organizational interaction to our leadership training.

Laura Jennings has founded and managed her own executive search firm, Professional Abatement Recruiters, which specialized in a segment of the environmental services industry. Her experience prior to The Jennings Group includes Vice President of Charles H. Bentz Associates, a national consulting company. Her responsibilities there included feasibility and strategy studies, organization planning and development, planning for boards of directors, trouble shooting projects, and recruiting. She brings special sensitivities and insights on the people side of successful business organization, strategies, and growth.

Laura Jennings received a BA from Drew University and has attended the University of Texas, Wells College, and The Institute of European Studies in Vienna, Austria. She has authored articles on such topics as managing people resources and the effective use of management recruiters. She also has been a lecturer at the graduate division of Bank Street College in New York City and served as a board member of a professional association as well as many other organizations.

Olin Jennings  (co-presenter of Adding Value As A Facilitator)

OlinJOlin is a Master SDI Facilitator and Chairman of The Jennings Group, a leadership development training and business consulting firm specializing in the engineering, environmental services, and contracting industries. Since establishing The Jennings Group in 1986, he has consulted with well over 200 companies in the engineering and environmental industries and provided management development and leadership training to executives from over 250 companies and 28 countries.

Mr. Jennings brings prior experience as President of a national environmental services and specialty contracting company and ten years of business consulting experience with Booz, Allen & Hamilton and Touche Ross & Co. (Deloitte & Touche), in addition to over 20 years at The Jennings Group. In total, he has consulted with well over 300 companies. In addition, he worked in line and staff positions in several large, national and international, multi-divisional as Vice President of Corporate Development, Vice President of Marketing, and Corporate Director of Market Planning.

Mr. Jennings received an MBA from the University of Michigan, a master's degree in mining engineering from Mackay School of Mines, and an undergraduate degree in geology from Lawrence University. Mr. Jennings has published and spoken on subjects including leadership development, relationship building, differentiating yourself in a mature market, managing company growth, improving your client feedback process, service and quality improvement programs, marketing technical services, the role of service in marketing, the acquisition process and preventing acquisition failure, managing the development of new products, and other subjects. In addition, he has been a guest lecturer at the University of Southern California business school and Tufts University.

Dr. Kate Kaynak  (co-presenter of Adding Value As A Facilitator)

Kate_KKatherine Kaynak, PhD, is a certified SDI facilitator who brings strong experience in social psychology from her research and teaching at various universities to The Jennings Group's professional development programs.

She has developed and taught graduate and undergraduate courses in behavioral and social science at Johns Hopkins University, the University of Maryland (UMUC), American University (Washington, DC), Trinity College (Washington, DC), Marymount University (Arlington, VA), and Rutgers University (New Brunswick, NJ). Courses have included: social psychology, adult psychology, child psychology, childhood development, adolescent development, abnormal psychology, parenting, the psychology of religion and spirituality, and other courses. In addition, she has conducted seminars and been responsible for advising independent studies in a wide range of subjects including aggression and rage, memory, and the psychological aspects of grief and recovery. She has managed field research studies and programs in various social and human development projects including autism, the psychological effect of religion and spirituality in dealing with depression, and sibling rivalry.

Dr. Kaynak has conducted research and presented papers at symposiums and annual meetings of psychology societies such as the Society for Research in Adult Development. She also has been an invited panelist and discussion leader at symposiums. Subjects for papers and presentations have included intermodal emotion perception, visual preferences for emotion, sampling methodology for psychology studies, factors affecting depression and locus of control, and other subjects.

Dr. Kaynak has published papers and book reviews in professional and scientific publications such as the Journal of Developmental and Physical Disabilities, and has been an invited speaker at The World Bank in Washington, D.C. She also has written and published four novels for young adult audiences.

Dr. Kaynak received an undergraduate degree in psychology from Yale University, an M.S. in psychology from Rutgers University, and a PhD in developmental and social psychology from Rutgers University.

Roseann Kobialka (co-presenter of An SDI and Servant Leadership Journey)

Rose_KRoseann is a Registered Nurse who "came up through the ranks" over a thirty year career with AtlantiCare while earning her B.A. in Psychology and an MBA. After spending 15 years at the bedside, she got involved in quality and education. In her current role, she functions as "Chief Culture Officer" leading the Organizational Development and Corporate Education functions at AtlantiCare as well as the successful organizational effort to achieve The Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award and steer our Servant Leadership journey.

Dr. Michael Maccoby (Keynote presenter: Developing the Leaders We Need)

MaccobyDr. Michael Maccoby is an award-winning and bestselling author, psychoanalyst, and globally recognized expert on leadership. He has written or co-authored 13 books including one with Erich Fromm, whose work was a major influence on Elias H. Porter and his development of Relationship Awareness Theory. Dr. Maccoby has consulted with leaders in over 30 countries and directed innovative projects to transform the world of work. Dr. Maccoby has taught at Harvard, Oxford, the University of Chicago, Sciences Po, the UC Santa Cruz, and the Washington School of Psychiatry. Donnie MacNicol (co-presenter of Development of Global Soft Skills for Project Managers using the SDI)

Donnie_MDonnie has many years' experience of working with senior managers in a wide range of private sector organisations in technology, media and professional services and also major government departments.. This experience is augmented by his active contribution to a number of professional bodies, and research with Kingston Business School where he is a Visiting Fellow. Donnie is an expert in the leadership development of project and programme managers and senior managers responsible for sponsoring major programmes. Donnie has delivered training programmes to over 4000 people in the last 10 years. He has spoken at many major PM related conferences in the UK.

 

Tina Mertel  (co-presenter of Our Path to GSD (Getting S#!* Done)

Tina_MTina is a Master Facilitator and Senior Associate with Personal Strengths. In addition to these roles, she provides performance coaching, and is a presenter at international conferences including the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) and the International Society of Performance Improvement (ISPI).

Tina has been in the performance development industry for 18 years. She is a Master Facilitator of the Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI) leading both the Level 1 and Level 2 SDI certification courses. In addition, she is certified in DISC, MBTI, and Situation Management Systems' Positive Power and Influence (PPI) program.

Tina's global training and coaching experience includes working with these organizations: DIESEL, Verizon, Sanyo North America, Solar Turbines, Qualcomm, PECO Energy, National Park Service, UnitedHealth Group, Adobe Systems, Apple, Barclays Capital, EPA, CIBC, Denihan Hospitality, The Dial Corp., Taco Bell Corporation, Atlanta Medical Center, and Medtronic. Tina received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University, and a Master of Arts degree with Distinction in Human Behavior from National University. She received the Distinguished Service Award twice from ASTD, is an Advanced Toastmaster (ATM), and placed first in a national writing contest on the Adult Student in Society. Although a proud native of San Diego, California, as a first-generation American she resides in her favorite international city of New York, New York.

 

Gene Mickelson (presenter of Filling the Bench)

Gene_MGene holds a BS degree in Nursing / Health Care Education with graduate work in Health Care Administration. He has over twenty years experience as an education program/training consultant both in the private sector and with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).

The focus of Gene's work to date has been on mid-level and senior management training and education. He has designed and facilitated numerous educational programs, workshops and consultations in the areas of strategic planning, organizational change, and assessment of leadership styles, effective communication, coaching/mentoring, and team building. He is a certified VHA TQI (Performance Improvement) Master Trainer assisting in assessing, diagnosing, and implementing strategies for improving processes and overall organizational performance. He is also certified in the Strength Deployment Inventory instrument used as a leadership assessment tool. Gene has been a previous presenter at Relationship Awareness Conferences.

Using his Baldrige training, Gene serves as a senior examiner for the VA Robert Carey Quality Recognition Award. Prior to joining VHA, Gene was Executive Director for a physician peer review organization located at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He also has experience as a hospital administrator in the private sector.

Ram Santhanam (presenter of MVS Pairing: An insider's guide to a co-leadership model for business excellence)

RamSRam is a Staff R&D Program Manager at Hewlett-Packard Company in San Diego, CA. He manages several globally distributed project teams to deliver innovative cloud based solutions for small and medium businesses.

Ram holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree from the University of Madras, India, a Master of Science (MS) degree in mechanical engineering and material science from the University of Akron, Ohio and a Leadership and Management Certification from UC San Diego. He holds 16 US patents, 15 technical publications and is a member of the Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.


Susan Wackerman (presenter of MVS Pairing: An insider's guide to a co-leadership model for business excellence)

Susan_WckSusan Wackerman is currently a Sr. Operations Manager in the Americas Supply Chain for HP's Imaging and Printing Group. In her position, Susan is responsible for the Recycling Operations for HP Americas and the Returns Operations / Remarketing for HP Americas Imaging and Printing Group. This includes supply chain development, reverse logistics, disposition and processing, refurbishment, resale, channel management. For Recycling Operations her product responsibilities cover all HP product categories including inkjet and laser printing, digital imaging, supplies, scanners, shared printing, PCs, notebooks, desktops, servers.

In her 22 years of experience with HP, Susan has held a number of management positions in Operations and Marketing including Director positions in the Region and WW Marketing organizations. Her responsibilities have included product marketing, market development, communications, business planning, category management, forecasting, outbound marketing, procurement and outbound operations. These efforts expand across HP's businesses, including the Consumer / Commercial Printing and Consumer PC businesses. These markets include business to business to consumer, direct, and auction.

Susan graduated from the University of San Diego, San Diego California. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
